New Facebook Additions

By Jordan Dolbin

There are two new additions to Facebook that I find interesting. One is a new app that alerts you when someone ends their relationship and the second is two new relationship status options.

Facebook has decided to become more politically correct by adding two new relationship status options. Users can now choose to be “in a civil union” or “in a domestic partnership.” This is very interesting to me, and it makes sense. Facebook is trying to reach out to all of its users. With this change in relationship status options has come an app that helps you keep track of these relationships.

Creeping on Facebook is about to be taken to the next level; it might even be borderline stalking. As if the “view friendship” link wasn’t enough, a new application has been made that notifies the user when someone ends or starts a relationship. The app is called the BreakUp Notifier and apparently you can select people that you want to be alerted about and then the app lets you know when they change their relationship status. The tagline for the app is “You like someone. They’re in a relationship. Be the first to know when they’re out of it”.. CREEPY.

I guess the app is convenient if you really want to know, but nobody in their right mind can think that is normal. No way someone would openly admit to having this app. much less actually using it. I feel like if you can’t admit that you even have the app then there probably is something weird about it.
