Sharing Memories from Thousands of Miles Away

By Jordan Dolbin

Earlier this year at the 2010 World Cup, the United States National team had a great run that not many people expected from them. From this success, they developed a huge following of soccer fans that they hadn’t had before. Groups of fans from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of people gathered in bars, plazas, gym and anywhere with a TV to watch these games. When the team returned, they said that what the trip so amazing was the amazing support they got not only in South Africa, but right here in the United States as well. With the advancements in technology, the team was able to see the impact they were making and made them play that much better.

Well, two weeks ago, the Baker Women’s Soccer team was able to have this same kind of feeling. While in Alabama, we played our hearts out not only for ourselves, but for the friends and family that came to watch and those back in Baldwin watching in the Union and the classrooms. It was amazing to get all the text messages, phones calls, videos, pictures, and facebook notifications about everybody supporting us. That made the trip so much more fun and meaningful.

Because of technology, amazing experiences like these can be shared with everybody rather than having to go home and trying to explain something that is pretty much impossible to put into words.
