A New Google Creation

By Megan Perry

Who does not love to dabble in a little bit of social networking? Google has made the announcement it will be joining the ranks of sites like Facebook and Twitter.

The new Google Buzz will work with Gmail to let users make updates and pull information from various networking accounts. According to Google spokesman Bradley Horowitz, its main purpose is to clean up the “clutter” of similar networking sites. To sum up the new Google Buzz, it is just a new combination of nearly every other networking site out there molded into one.

There is a few number of people who are not active in the social networking craze. Why not Google too? After reading a CNN article, I am on a bit of a line. How popular will a site be that follows Twitter’s micro-blogging style, but has the general model layout of Facebook be? There will even be a little bit of the AOL Instant Messenger style thrown into the mix as well. It is like a social networking Frankenstein creation. It is a complete toss up of what may happen.

In attempts to further their gain, Google also added last month a Social Search feature. This will allow people to set their accounts in a way that when they do a search, certain peoples names can automatically come up each time.

At the end of the day, I say more power to Google. I am always intrigued when I hear about some new networking site. So in the coming months, we all may be diverting away from the social networks of the past and getting in touch with the Buzz.
